Event Highlights: A Journey for the Senses

1. Nollywood Film Premiere & Director’s Talk

  • Description: Experience the magic of Nigeria’s world-renowned film industry. We will host the Canadian premiere of a critically acclaimed Nollywood film, followed by an intimate Q&A session with the director or a lead actor, exploring the themes and future of African cinema.
  • Goal: To showcase Lagos’s powerful storytelling and create cross-cultural dialogue through film.

2. “Roots and Rhythms” Live Music Concert

  • Description: Feel the beat! A high-energy concert featuring headlining Afrobeats artists from Lagos alongside talented Afro-Caribbean and Canadian artists from Brampton. This fusion performance will highlight the shared musical influences and unique sounds that have taken the global stage by storm.
  • Goal: To unite communities through the universal language of music and dance.

3. “Dualities” Art Exhibition

  • Description: A curated exhibition featuring visual artists from Brampton and Lagos. The works will explore themes of identity, migration, “home,” and the future, reflecting the diverse experiences that connect our two cities. The opening night will include a walkthrough with the artists.
  • Goal: To provide a visual narrative of the partnership and foster artistic collaboration.

4. Taste of Brampton-Lagos: A Culinary Experience

  • Description: Embark on a culinary journey. Leading chefs from both cities will collaborate on a unique pop-up dining experience or a food festival, offering a fusion of iconic Nigerian dishes (e.g., Jollof rice, Suya) with Canadian ingredients and culinary traditions.
  • Goal: To connect people through food, celebrating flavour and innovation.
